FROM THE CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
For Lent, Sunday school will do The Children's Way of the Cross. We do the Stations every Sunday in Lent using books
especially created for children.
In addition to our Stations, we will concentrate on two major themes of Lent - prayer and almsgiving. In the past, our Sunday school has done "Quarters for Prayers". The purpose of this exercise is two-fold: the children develop a habit of praying each day and because they were faithful in their prayers, I donate a quarter for each and every prayer for each and every child. Because they do not get to keep the quarters, they are practicing almsgiving but are able to see, in a way they can understand, the benefit of prayer - they get to know God in that special way and we get to give our quarters to the Church which will decide the best way to spread those blessings.
It is very important for the family to support the children in this exercise. Be with them when they say their prayers at night and help them with their prayers in the morning. When you drop off your children for Sunday school each week in Lent, tell them how many quarters are to be given to God for His glory and for His use. We add the quarters each week and watch them grow. On Easter Sunday, the children present their alms to Fr. Poole with the offerings of the day. It fills the children with pride - the good kind - and it warms the hearts of the congregation to see the children so dedicated.
We would like to bring it to the attention of our church members that parking is limited at Saint Philip’s this Sunday due to repairs being done to this area. Additional parking is available during mass service at Dr. Heller’s practice next door on the south side of our church.
PLEASE BE AWARE & CAUTIOUS
It was brought to our attention that the concrete parking bumper in front of the
footpath leading to the entrance of St. Philip’s was hazardous so we would like to
bring it to your attention that the parking bumper has now been removed as a
safety measure. Those who may utilize the two handicap areas please be aware
and courteous to others and not park too close to the entrance of the pathway
allowing easy passage for parishioners. Thank you…
