Father Poole was not able to be at church and so we had our friend Doug lead us in morning prayer in Father Poole's stead.

Doug is a licensed reader and chalice bearer and much loved in the congregation. This was his very first time leading Morning Prayer - we were prepared to support him regardless of what may, or may not, happen.

He did a wonderful job! He is not, of course, allowed to do a 'sermon' - only the priest can do that - but what he did was share how he got from being a Baptist to be being an Anglican. He's charming and witty and we enjoyed his talk.

I can imagine he was a nervous wreck - I would have been. But he was very good and all the congregation left with smiles.

Job well done, Doug!
